National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology was established on October 16^th, 2017. At the very start, Peking University School of Stomatology was entrusted by Medical Administration and Hospital Authority of National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China in 2016，National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology is responsible for conducting the related work of national medical quality control in stomatology. From 1^st July 2016, adequate preparations were made for National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology establishment within the guidance of the National Health Commission. After reporting to higher authorities in 2017, a formal letter of authorization was received from Medical Administration and Hospital Authority of National Health Commission on 16^th October 2017, which announced Peking University School of Stomatology was officially entrusted to be responsible for the establishment of National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology.

Main responsibilities of National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology are: under the leading of Medical Administration and Hospital Authority of National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, to prepare for related polices and technical documents of medical quality control in stomatology, and to guide provincial-level quality control centers to conduct medical quality control work of stomatology major; to make indicators, standards and quality management requirements for the quality control in stomatology; to collect and analyze related healthcare quality data, and to put forward work proposal on quality management mechanism; to undertake other entrusted affairs distributed by Medical Administration and Hospital Authority of National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China.

National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology has established 28 provincial quality control centers, 774 medical institutions in total were applied by the provinces as sentinel hospitals. According to the requirements of the National Health Commission, National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology annually organizes provincial sentinel hospitals to fill in the stomatology data of the National Medical Service and Quality Safety Report in the National Clinical Improvement System. After the collection of the data, National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology will complete the collation and analysis of the national stomatology data and report to the National Health Commission. Moreover, National Center for Quality Control in Stomatology has published the "National Medical Service and Quality Safety Report – Stomatology Fascicule" for three years.
