September 1, 2025 – A PKU-SS delegation headed by Professor Zheng Shuguo, Director of the Preventive Dentistry Department and Chief Dental Officer of the Chinese mainland, attended the 15th Asian Chief Dental Officers Meeting (ACDOM) under the theme “Driving Change, Delivering Impact: Asia’s Response to the Bangkok Declaration” held in Indonesia. 

The meeting brought together representatives from countries and regions in the South-East Asia and Western Pacific regions to report on progress in implementing the Global Oral Health Action Plan. Representatives from the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office (SEARO), the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO), and the WHO Headquarters also delivered presentations and exchanged key insights on oral health strategies.

Professor Zheng emphasized that China has placed high importance on public oral health and is actively advancing the development of a prevention-oriented oral healthcare system. He expressed China's willingness to strengthen cooperation with other Asian nations to jointly address common challenges such as uneven distribution of oral healthcare resources and shortages of specialized personnel. He also said that the WHO Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) for Research and Training in Preventive Dentistry at Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology would undertake additional research and promotional activities in public oral health, contributing Chinese wisdom and expertise to the realization of Vision 2030: Delivering Optimal Oral Health for All.
