Professor Jin Lijian Appointed Dean of HKU Faculty of Dentistry
In July 2025, Professor Jin Lijian, a distinguished alumnus of Peking University School of Stomatology, was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong. The appointment recognizes his exceptional academic achievements and leadership in stomatology.

As a globally respected expert in periodontology, Professor Jin is the Modern Dental Laboratory Professor in Clinical Dental Science and Chair Professor of Periodontology at HKU. He earned his PhD from Beijing Medical University (now Peking University Health Science Center) and a second PhD from Karolinska Institute in Sweden.
Throughout his over 30-year career, Professor Jin has held key academic and administrative roles at HKU. He was honored with the Fellowship in Dental Surgery ad hominem by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007 and has served in leading positions with organizations such as the FDI World Dental Federation and the International Association for Dental Research. Currently, he serves as a Board Member of the International Academy of Periodontology.
Professor Jin’s appointment is a milestone in his career and also strengthens the ties between Peking University and the University of Hong Kong. His leadership at HKU Faculty of Dentistry is expected to further advance stomatological education, research, and cross-regional collaboration.
