EDUCATION
Peking University School of Stomatology has long been at the helm of responding to China’s ongoing demand for more and better-trained stomatological professionals.
Its degree programs currently include the only 8-year program in the nation licensed by the Ministry of Education: a combined D.M.D./Ph.D. program accepting exclusively top-notch students and permitting them to complete both their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the School. To date, more than 700 students have been enrolled.
In 2012, PKUSS produced the first graduate in the history of China to earn a double doctoral degree in clinical stomatology and basic research.
This achievement was perfectly in the tradition of an institution whose past educational landmarks include conferring China’s first doctoral degree (1984) and producing China’s first class of clinical doctoral degrees (1988).
It seems to go without saying that those professionals who emerge from the Peking University School of Stomatology, for decades now, have been recognized as the best of the best.
Many have and, no doubt, plenty more shall become major contributors to the evolution of the stomatological professions in China. Others are known worldwide as experts in their respective fields. All, of course, wear with pride the name of their alma mater and, regardless of where they go on to work or study, become inextricably a part of the School’s legacy as a leading force in Chinese education, clinical service, research, and preventive care.
