Department of Preventive Dentistry
The department of preventive dentistry was established in 1980, which is the first department of preventive dentistry in mainland of China.
As the leader of preventive department in China, now the department has about 23 staffs including three professors, five associated professors.
In clinic, our department is set up for prevention of dental problems and treatment of dental diseases in adult and children.
It is mainly focused on caries prevention with fluoride, pits and fissures sealants, epidemiologic survey of dental diseases, oral health education and promotion, and so on.
Our department has a long history of oral epidemiology and oral public health researches. The 1st (1982), 2nd (1995) and 3rd ( 2005) National Survey for Oral Health were mainly designed and supervised by our department.
The World Health Organization Collaborating Center (WHOCC) for the Research and Training in Preventive Dentistry in China and the China Oral Health Foundation are also located in this department.
As the host, the 2nd and the 7th WCPD were held in this department in 1989 and 2001respectively.
We also hosted the 4th AAPD in 2000, and the 11th AAPD will be held in 2014.
